Bikers day (back at base) 11th July

We had a busy week preparing for our open day, In attendance were Kent Police Bike Safe and Kent Fire & Rescue among other friends and despite rather patchy weather we all had a good day.

Renault World Series, Silverstone 4th & 5th July. We joined the Renault Alpine club for the weekend and had a great time. Thanks Stephen!

Our f16 drew the crowds, swamping her at times. She was especially popular with the children.

UPDATE! We are pleased to report that production of the f16 started again this week following the factory fire in June. Currently there is a backlog of orders leading to a 10 week delivery time, this will improve over the coming weeks as they catch up.

Update on Factory fire.

The factory fire though extensive hopefully will have minimal impact on production of the F16 and should not have any effect on UK sales. The cause of the fire was Lithium batteries sent  from America for testing, in the night the batteries went ‘bang’ and took out the gas mains which spread the fire through that part of the production line. The crucial parts of the factory were untouched, the offices, and the moulding shop for the body and panels are safe. Hopefully it wont take too long to set up production in another part of the factory complex. We'll keep you updated.

Factory damaged by fire!

On Tuesday night the Secma factory was damaged by fire, thankfully no one has been injured, sixty fire fighters reportedly fought the fire for nearly ten hours.

The production & assembly building has been destroyed leaving a pile of melted plastic and metal. The fire alarm woke-up  Daniel Renard but there was already smoke and the snap sound of lithium batteries as the fire spread with speed through the building. It has been reported that the fire was accidental, a vehicle was on charge and must have short-circuited and overheated.

All the employees have been  laid off for now, I'm sure you'll join with us in wishing them a speedy recovery from this disaster and hope the factory can be up and running again soon.
